The author, Keith J. Lindenburg, is a Rhode Island native and life-long storyteller. Recently retired, he spent his professional career as a journalist, public relations leader, and corporate communications executive.

Deadly Melody

Life in Newport, Rhode Island, during the 1980s was packed with dance floors, ocean breezes, and endless nights. Beneath the glamour of mansions, marinas, and booming nightclubs, cocaine flowed freely, and the revelry never seemed to end. Then the body of a star high school basketball player washes ashore. For a moment, the city by the sea is stunned. Rumors spread through bars, beach houses, and back alleys. Was it a tragic accident, suicide… or murder?

But in a town addicted to excess, the music keeps playing, and the nightlife rolls on. As a local detective digs deeper into the young athlete's death, the investigation embroils his best friend— a charismatic nightclub DJ who lives for pulse-pounding parties, beautiful women, and the exhilaration of Newport after dark— in a web of mystery and deceit. What begins as a single suspicious death spirals into a perilous maze of secrets, betrayal, and deception that lurks beneath that city's glittering surface. In a place where everyone is chasing pleasure and nobody wants the party to end, even the melody can be deadly.

About the Author 

Keith Lindenburg has always been drawn to the water. A licensed United States Coast Guard captain, he was born on Long Island, raised in Rhode Island, and now boats the waters around Hilton Head Island. As a former DJ, Keith landed his first gig at his college pub and continued spinning records at clubs in Newport after graduation. He remains devoted to the sound of vinyl and maintains a robust collection of LPs and 45s that span decades. Writing this book inspired him to reconnect with his DJ-ing roots, returning to the turntables and mixing tunes once again in retirement.

Keith earned his first bylines as a magazine journalist before spending the remainder of his professional career in corporate communications and public relations, where he ghostwrote countless articles for clients and penned more press releases than he cares to remember. A graduate of Fairfield University with a degree in English and a concentration in writing, he has devoted most of his career to crafting stories, messages, and narratives for others.

Currently, Keith lives in the South Carolina Lowcountry with his partner, Alice, and their two doodles. "Deadly Melody" is his debut novel.
